2021-2022 Activity Report

NanoGUNE's 7th activity report is an overview of the most important outcomes of the 2021-2022 period, covering research lines and highlights, progress on technology transfer and connection with companies, communication and dissemination projects, career progression oriented activities, and general management strategies.

2019-2020 Activity Report

NanoGUNE's 6th activity report corresponds to the period 2019-2020. In 2019, we celebrated our 10th anniversary with the satisfaction of having made good progress both in research and in the translation of that research intro our society. This Activity Report highlights the most important outcomes of the period.

2017-2018 Activity Report

NanoGUNE's 5th activity report corresponds to the period 2017-2018 in which we have been recognized as a Maria de Maeztu center of excellence, a recognition given to centers that stand out for the international impact of their research activity. In this period, nanoGUNE has intensified its knowledge and technology transfer activities, participating in the creation of a new company and launching new contract research with international leading companies. The center has also succeeded in the certification or its innovation management system to the UNE 166.002:2014.

2015-2016 Activity Report

This activity report corresponds to the period 2015-2016 in which we have keep making outstanding contributions in our research fields, and we have opened a new research group, nanoengineering, led by Ikerbasque Research Professor Andreas Seifert. Our connections to the Basque (and international) industry are also growing: our external-services department is moving to a true platform for industrial research and experimental development, we have founded our 5th spin-off company (Prospero Biosciences) and we have launched a new tool (NanoInnovations) to facilitate the transfer of knowledge and technology both locally and internationally.

2013-2014 Activity Report

We present nanoGUNE's third activity report, which corresponds to the period 2013-2014. In this period, we have been making outstanding contributions in our research fields, and we have opened a new research group, nanobiomechanics, led by Ikerbasque Research Professor Raúl Pérez-Jiménez. We have launched an external-services deparment with the aim of offering nanoscale fabrication and characterization services to both academic and industrial users. We have also initiated several technology-transfer activities within our industrial environment, and we have created new high-tech companies. Three new companies have been founded in 2014, in the areas of atomistic simulations (Simune), coating technologies (Ctech-nano), and evolution and genomic technologies (Evolgene).

2011-2012 Activity Report

This is nanoGUNE's second activity report, which corresponds to the period 2011-2012. In this period, three new research groups were opened, all led by scientists of international recognition, thereby bringing nanoGUNE's activity to a cruising speed and placing the Basque Country at the forefront of nanoscience research. The bases were also set for the creation of an effective framework of cooperation among existing research and technological agents in the Basque Country, and several technology-transfer activities were initiated within nanoGUNE's industrial environment.

2007-2010 Activity Report

This is nanoGUNE's first activity report. It describes the launching of nanoGUNE, its infrastructure, and research groups. It also describes the research, technology-transfer, and outreach activities that took place in the period 2007-2010.
