Train2-SUDOE Workshop on Nanomagnetism and Spintronics

February 2012

Organized jointly by the Nanomagnetism and Nanodevices groups and celebrated in nanoGUNE, the Train2-SUDOE Workshop aimed to bring together researchers from the SUDOE (European Soth-West) region working within the fields of Nanomagnetism and Spintronics. This was a good opportunity to meet interesting people and share our research ideas with our regional partners. Hope to meet all of you very soon again!

Nanomagnetism group at the MMM Conference

November 2011

The 56th Annual Conference on Magnetism and Magnetic Materials was celebrated in the beginning of November in Scottsdale, Arizona. Three members of the Nanomagnetism Group (Txema, Ania and Marco) presented their research work there with nice contributed talks. Besides this, they all had a good time, met interesting people and had the chance to meditate on magnetism right in the middle of the desert of Arizona. Well done Nanomagnetism!

The “pintxo gang”

October 2011

During the last six months, Prof. Hans Peter Oepen from the University of Hamburg joined our group as an Ikerbasque Visiting Fellow. We all enjoyed very much his visit and we intensely learned from him, shared lab hours and set collaborative research projects for the future, as well as had the chance to taste the best pintxos in the old part of Donostia having a great time all together. We all hope to meet Prof. Oepen very soon for continuing the nice research work (and for the forthcoming pintxo events!)

Prof. Oepen took good notes on basque traditions, like wearing the typical “txapela”
