INPhINIT. “La Caixa” Doctoral Fellowship Programme

The program

INPhINIT, ”la Caixa” Doctoral Fellowship Program is devoted to attracting international Early-Stage Researchers to the top Spanish research centers. NanoGUNE is a host organization of INPhINIT and offers up to 11 stimulating research projects for PhD candidates of this call.

INPhINIT is promoted by the "la Caixa" Foundation with the aim of supporting the best scientific talent and fostering innovative and high-quality research in Spain by recruiting outstanding international students and offering them an attractive and competitive environment for conducting research of excellence.

INPhINIT recruits per call 57 Early-Stage Researchers of any nationality, who enjoy a 3-year employment contract at the Research Center of their choice among those selected and awarded by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness ("Severo Ochoa" centers of excellence and "Maria de Maeztu" units of excellence) and the Spanish Ministry of Health ("Carlos III centers of excellence"). In addition, researchers establish a personal career development plan including trasnational, intersectoral, and interdisciplinary mobility opportunities, and attend a full range of complementary training courses and workshops.

INPhINIT relies on the European Commission's support through the Horizon 2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions - COFUND program to recruit a larger number of researchers and achieve a broader impact, as well as to further pursue the highest standards for research training.

The center: CIC nanoGUNE

NanoGUNE is the Basque nanoscience cooperative research center, a top research institution named as a Maria de Maeztu Center by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (in charge of research and innovation policy in Spain), which recognizes excellence at the highest international level in terms of research, training, human resources, outreach and technology transfer. Located in Donostia - San Sebastian, Basque Country (Spain), its mission is to perform world-class nanoscience research for the competitive growth of the Basque Country.

NanoGUNE was launched in 2006, thanks to the support of the Basque Government and other public institutions, as a non-profit making association. The official inauguration of the Center took place in 2009. Since the opening, we have been working hard with the aim of building up a research center and infrastructure that combine state-of-the-art research with a focus to industry.

We have an international team of more than 80 scientists (coming from more than 20 different countries) that are continuously making outstanding contributions to the fields of nanomagnetism, nanooptics, self-assembly, nanobiomechanics, nanodevices, electron microscopy, theory, nanomaterials, nanoimaging, and nanoengineering.

We have also founded 5 start-up companies: Graphenea (graphene production), Simune (atomistic simulations), Ctech-nano (thin-film coatings), Evolgene (enzyme design and production), and Prospero Biosciences (high-mass spectroscopy).

World-class nanoscience research, in close collaboration with other research laboratories and with industry, and a commitment to the society define the way we understand our activity.

Information about the center and life at nanoGUNE is accesible in these links.

What do we offer: Stimulating PhD research projects
