2 PhD positions in theory and simulation of nanosystems
in theory and simulation of nanosystems
(Physicists / Chemists)
As part of an ongoing expansion strategy to broaden the scope of nanoGUNE’s research portfolio, as well as complement the already ongoing scientific activities, nanoGUNE is looking for talented and motivated young researchers interested in joining the new group of Theory and Simulation of Nanosystems.
The new group will be lead by Emilio Artacho, who will join nanoGUNE’s research team in short time, coming from the Condensed Matter Theory and Simulation Group in the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Cambridge.
The successful candidates will join the new theory group at nanoGUNE. The projects will develop around collaborations with the experimental groups in the institute.
Nanoscience is the science of nanometre-scaled objects, a very vibrant field at the interface between physics, chemistry, biology and materials science, with a huge potential for new science and technology (from medicine to energy generation). The work will include the development of electronic-structure theory and methods as needed for the challenges faced in the respective projects.
CIC nanoGUNE Consolider is a recently founded Research & Development Center with the mission of conducting basic and applied world-class research in nanoscience and nanotechnology. Further details about the Center can be found online at www.nanogune.eu.
Suitable for condensed matter/solid state physics or theoretical chemistry graduates, with good knowledge of English, and interest in computing and supercomputers. Prior knowledge of programming is desirable but not strictly required.
Applicants should forward their CV to ea245@cam.ac.uk.
