Plasmonic supercrystals

Plasmonic supercrystals

Plasmonic supercrystals are patterned structures of, for example hexagonally packed, gold nanospheres. These structures exhibit interesting optical characteristics thanks to the plasmonic properties of gold nanospheres assemblies. By changing the lattice parameters of these arrays of gold nanoparticles, it is possible to tune the plasmonic resonance. The tunability allows the adjustment to the emission wavelength of the laser and, hence, results in higher sensitivity and enables the detection of low concentrations or even single-molecule detection by Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS).

This project is a joint project between CIC nanoGUNE and the Bionanoplasmonics Laboratory of CIC biomaGUNE http://www.cicbiomagune.es/org/researchgroups.
