Daniel Hernangomez Perez
Background: Since January 2024 I am Research Fellow ("Gipuzkoa Fellow") and Principal Investigator in the Theory group (head of the group, Prof. Emilio Artacho) at CIC nanoGUNE. My research is funded by the Spanish government (MICIU), the Basque Government through the IKUR program and by Diputación Foral de Gipuzkoa.
I have broad expertise in different areas of quantum matter and the theory of quantum technologies, including:
- Light-Matter Coupling (Excitons) in Low Dimensional Nanostructures and Molecular Systems.
- Ab initio Methods: DFT, GW, BSE and Friends for Quantum Transport Applications.
- High-Magnetic Field Physics in Low Dimensions (Quantum Hall Effects, Anderson Transitions).
- Many-body Magneto-Optical Properties, Nonlinear Phototransport and Magnetism in Low Dimensional Systems.
- Quantum Computation.
For this purpose, I combine a range of different first principles computational techniques (density functional theory, GW, Bethe-Salpether equation ...), but also model Hamiltonians, analytical theory development, and recently quantum algorithms.
I am one of the lead developers of the quantum transport package AITRANSS and contribute to the development effort of the ab initio package FHI-aims.
