The interactions of chiral light with (chiral) matter are widely used in analytics and spectroscopy to elucidate key structure elements and properties of various molecules. This talk will explore the physical principles behind chiral light and methods to describe and quantify chirality and helicity of certain types of light, which are key characteristics to model chiral light-matter interactions. The talk will also touch on how to locally enhance the chirality of light using nanoplasmonics, which can be used to study the chiroptical response of single molecules. Finally, ways to model single molecule anisotropic chiroptical properties will be discussed.
