Experienced Post-doctoral Researcher

to work on

composition and structure of future battery components

 

 

NanoGUNE is a research center devoted to conducting world-class nanoscience research for a competitive growth of the Basque Country. NanoGUNE is a member of the Basque Research and Technology Alliance (BRTA) and is recognized by the Spanish Research Agency as a María de Maeztu Unit of Excellence.

 

We are pleased to offer a postdoctoral position in the field of FIB based 3D analysis of complex battery materials.

The project will focus on study of 3 dimensional structure and composition of novel hybrid organic-inorganic solid electrolytes, compound cathodes and Li metal anodes. The project will utilize FIB/SEM instrumentation and air-free workflow existing at nanoGUNE.

 

The selected candidate will join the Electron Microscopy group, led by Ikerbasque Research Professor A.Chuvilin. More information can be found at: Electron Microscopy Lab.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Keeping contact and communicating with all project partners. Planning activities within the project, accepting samples and preparing the reports.
  • Performing experimental SEM and FIB/SEM 3D imaging of the samples provided by partners utilising existing air-free sample preparation/transfer workflow.
  • Post-processing and analysis of acquired datasets. Segmentation, phase identification, 3D statistics and analysis of percolation networks.
  • Optimization of the workflow including experiments automation and AI application for data analysis.

 

Qualifications:

  • More than 10 years’ hands-on experience in electron microscopy, EDX, EBSD.
  • Proficiency in material science sample preparation for TEM and SEM.
  • Proven track record of publications.
  • Experience in image processing and 3D data analysis will be a plus.
  • Programming experience will be a plus.

 

Conditions:

The contract will start as soon as all documents are ready, optimally on the 01.10.2026

The end of contract is 31.12.2027
