Food monitoring

by the Nanoengineering group

The use of spectroscopic approaches in combination with machine learning algorithms helps to identify the quality status of food products. We have developed a fast and cost-effective method for detecting adulterated honey and have applied our methods for detecting microplastics in food. The combination of various spectroscopic methods allows us to generally investigate food quality control, in aspects such as toxic ingredients, ripeness, nutritional value, fraud, origin, or microplastic content.

We are seeking research collaborations, including in large projects, both with public and private investment, as well as partnerships with industrial stakeholders in the food production sector.

Food "Structuring"

by the Self-Assembly group

We direct the assembly of proteins, peptides, and other biomolecules through electrospinning into micro and nanofibers, with diameters reaching down to the size of a single molecule.
