Applications are invited for a post-doctoral researcher to join the Self-Assembly group at CIC nanoGUNE led by Prof. Alexander Bittner. The candidate will join a research line focusing on molecular programming and self-assembly with DNA nanotechnology. The research project will include the design, assembly and characterization of functional DNA nanodevices such as DNA origami and DNA bricks interfacing with nanomaterials to work on applications in sensing, actuation and molecular robotics.

Applicants should possess, or be very close to obtaining, a doctorate in experimental physics, biophysics, chemistry, biochemistry or related fields. The successful candidate will have:

  • Knowledge in molecular self-assembly, nanostructure fabrication, and single-molecule biophysics
  • Wet-lab experience in handling nanoparticles (e.g. metallic nanoparticles or enzymes) or nucleic acid chemistry (e.g. gel electrophoresis, bioconjugation) or lipid-membrane engineering (e.g. vesicle synthesis)
  • Experience in optical microscopy, image analysis, spectroscopy and/or atomic force microscopy is a plus.
  • Good oral and written communication skills in English can be an advantage.

We promote teamwork in a diverse and inclusive environment and welcome all kinds of applicants regardless of age, disability, gender, nationality, race, religion, or sexual orientation.
