With the aim of supporting the development of the professional skills of its predoctoral researchers, nanoGUNE is organizing three training sessions.

Oral Communication Skills

Bright ideas, great initiatives and promising projects can depend significantly on how they are presented. In this training the participants further develop their skills in preparing and delivering top quality presentations, as well as in communicating with different audiences.

When and where:

  • Wednesday, 9 November: 9 - 13 h. Second floor seminar room.
  • Wednesday, 16 November: 9 - 13 h. Second floor seminar room.
  • Monday, 21 November: 9 - 11 h. and 14 - 18 h. (30 minutes Individual sessions). Research area basement meeting room.
  • Tuesday, 22 November: 9 - 12 h. Second floor seminar room.

Content:

The topic will be regarded from all perspectives to achieve a broad skill set development:

  • Preparation and structuring of the presentation and developing professional presentation material.
  • Professional use of body and voice during the presentation.
  • Stress Management before, during and after the presentation.
  • Professional reaction to questions and feedback after the presentation. The training includes individual feedback sessions to achieve the maximum learning effect.

 Priority will be given to 1st year predoctoral researchers (registered at a PhD program in 2016).

Entrepreneurship

The goal of the Entrepreneurship course is to train predoctoral researchers to transform an idea into an entrepreneurial project.

When and where:

  • Tuesday, 13 December: 9 - 13 h. Second floor seminar room.
  • Wednesday, 14 December: 9:30 - 12:30 h. Second floor seminar room.
  • Thursday, 15 December: 9:30 - 12:30 h. Second floor seminar room.

Content:

  • How to be an entrepreneur.
  • Creative Process.
  • Business Model.
  • Business Plan.

Priority will be given to 2nd year predoctoral researchers (registered at a PhD program in 2015).

From the PhD to a Company

The goal of this workshop will be to train predoctoral researchers on how to show their skills and attitudes when looking for a job within an industrial environment.

When:

  • Tuesday, 15 November: 9 - 17 h. Second floor seminar room.
  • Tuesday, 22 November: 9 - 17 h. (1h individual sessions). Research area 1st floor meeting room.

Language: English.

Content:

  • Self-knowledge, desires and professional expectations.
  • Personal SWOT and market study.
  • The Networking.
  • Preparing the job interview.
  • Individual meetings: to review the CV with each participant (also in basque and/or spanish) and to work on his/her personal plan on how to address their integration in the labor market.
  • Preparing the CV (also in basque and/or spanish).

Priority will be given to 3rd year predoctoral researchers (registered at a PhD program in 2014).
