NanoGUNE is set to participate in the Urbanzientzia event. The event organised by TEKNAHI within the framework of OLATU TALKA, which is part of the DSS2016 (Donostia-San Sebastian Capital of Culture) programme, is aiming to take science into the street.

Would you like to do an internship over the summer? Well, now is the moment as this week we have opened the registration period for the Summer Internship Programme.

Through the nanoKOMIK project, the research centres CIC nanoGUNE and the Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC), specialists in nanoscience and materials science, are proposing that the first participatory nanofiction comic in 2016 be created, produced and disseminated.

NanoGUNE´s new group, Nanoengineering Group, led by Ikerbasque Research Professor Dr. Andreas Seifert, focuses on research at the interface between fundamental nanoscience and applied engineering, in particular in the area of biomedical microsystems. The aim is to bridge the gap between physical sciences and industrial as well as clinical applications by introducing nanotechnology to finally gain added value for novel medical microsystems and mesoscopic devices.

Prospero Biosciences will be developing an innovative technology capable of opening up a new field of applications within the mass spectrometry industry. It will enable significant advances to be made in research into biological markers, among other things.

The Piero Brovetto Award 2015 has been awarded to nanoGUNE's pre-doctoral researcher Nicolò Maccaferri for “his contributions to the fields of nanomagnetism and nanooptics, in particular for the study of the magnetoplasmonic properties of magnetic resonant nanostructures”.

NanoGUNE offers a nanotechnology introductory course to high-school science and technology teachers in the framework of the Prest Gara program of the Department of Education, Language Policy, and Culture of the Basque Government. The lessons will take place in November and December 2015.
