Banana for Scale

The Banana is an internationally recognised symbol of art. Everyone is familiar with its shape and size. As scientist, we can exploit this commonly known objected in outreach communication with the general public. Many times, it is hard to judge the dimensions of a scientific apparatus one has never seen before. A banana can act as an attention scale bar.
