Oksana Yurkevich is a predoctoral researcher at the Nanomaterials Group of CIC nanoGUNE, led by Dr. Mato Knez (Ikerbasque Research Professor).

On her talk, Yurkevich explained how the development of self-healing materials is an influential step towards greener technologies and a sustainable future, and how this invention might benefit numerous technological areas such as flexible electronics, wearable sensors, photovoltaics, displays, energy by potentially enhancing the durability and longevity of the materials. Yurkevich presented interesting results related to self-healing semiconductor materials. In particular, she developed novel self-healing semiconducting oxides and a methodology enabling the development of other types of self-healing inorganic materials.

SPIE Smart Structures + Nondestructive Evaluation 2022 is a meeting where the latest research for advanced materials and sensor systems is shared, gathering an important community working in this field.
