THERE IS ROOM FOR MANY STORIES IN THE NANOWORLD, TELL US ABOUT THEM!

The CIC nanoGUNE Research Center organizes for the first time in the Basque Country the regional phase of the Nano-Story Contest organized within the framework of the VII edition of "10alamenos9", the Festival of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology.

The aim of this contest is to encourage interest in the nanoscale world, the so-called "nanoworld", whithin the educational community.

The contest is aimed at (1) students who are studying in schools located in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country, (2) young people living in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country, and (3) young Basque speakers from anywhere in the world. Likewise, two categories are distinguished:

  • Category A: Students between 14 and 15 years old as of 12/31/2021 (3rd and 4th year of Compulsory Secondary Education).

  • Category B: Students between 16 and 17 years old as of 31/12/2021 (1st and 2nd year of Bachillerato, Basic Vocational Training and Intermediate Vocational Training).

Each contestant will have the opportunity to present a story that can be science fiction, fantasy, etc. And other types of literary works such as song lyrics or poems can also be submitted. The main requirement is that the work must be related to nanoscience and nanotechnology, and that it must not exceed 200 words.

The contest is divided into two phases. The first is at regional level in the Basque Country where the prize will consist of a pack for two people to enjoy Eureka! Zientzia Museoa and, if they have signed up through the study center, they will also be given the opportunity to visit nanoGUNE during the academic year 2022-2023. The second phase is International: the winning stories from each location will compete and the final prize will be a tablet.

How can you participate?

The instructions to participate in the contest are available in Basque and Spanish on this website.

The deadline to submit the stories is the 20th May 2022.
