PVP microfibers via electrospinning technique

Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) electrospun micro fibers on glass observed by optical microscopy. To obtain microfibers of PVP, a solution of PVP/ethanol (24% w / w) was inserted into a single needle syringe with inner needle diameter of 0.43 mm. The solution was electrospun in a electrospinning apparatus. The distance between the needle and the collector was set to be 10 cm and the applied voltage was 15 kV. The fibers were collected on a glass slide over the aluminum plate. When the voltage difference is applied, the liquids inside the needle stretch and thus, micro and nano fibers are created.
